The 2011 Zig Zag Festival

Selborne likes any excuse for a knees-up so we thought there was a great opportunity to gather together some fantastic local beers and ciders as well as some very different wines from around the world. Add local food and live music from local musicians and we’ve got a great event with a bit of something for everyone. The festival is a not-for-profit event and all the ticket and hall sales profits go to local charities and good causes making sure that the community benefits from the festival.

This is the 7th Zig Zag Festival and we're pleased to say that the event has just got better every year. We don't aim to be massive, we aim to be a village event with a difference, to which everyone is welcome. It's particularly rewarding for us to see the increasing numbers of people coming from further afield to enjoy both the festival and the village for their unique appeal. So come and get stuck in - it's a staggeringly good event!

Why Zig Zag ?

In 1753, the famous Selborne resident, author and naturalist, Gilbert White, carved the Zig Zag path up the side of Selborne Hanger which is still there today for all to enjoy. The name of the festival celebrates this local landmark but did you know it’s also old naval slang for being slightly tipsy? Now there’s a coincidence!
